Take-home pay is the amount that actually lands in your bank account after deductions are taken from your gross salary. We subtract Australian income tax, the 2% Medicare levy for most residents, and any HECS/HELP repayment if you have a study debt. If your salary is quoted inclusive of super, we also deduct the Super Guarantee amount so you can see the cash component separately.
The calculator supports Australian residents, foreign residents and working holiday makers, each with the correct tax-free threshold and Medicare rules. It also handles salary sacrifice, one-off or recurring bonuses, and the Division 293 high-income super surcharge for earners above the threshold.
